When most people visit the city, they will likely make Manhattan one of their primary stops. Although there is much to do in Manhattan, you should not overlook Brooklyn and all that it has to offer. Once you see all of the many different things that you can do, you will recognize that it is the best place to be.

Perhaps one of the more iconic attractions in Brooklyn is the Brooklyn Bridge. It has been in existence since 1883 and back when it was built, the engineering was absolutely beyond its time. It was even the longest suspension bridge worldwide when it was built. Thousands of people enjoy walking across the bridge and getting a birds eye view of many of the famous city landmarks.

Something else that is well worth doing when the weather is right is paying a visit to the flea market. You will find plenty of shopping available and quite an experience as you mingle among the tents. There are also some awesome vendors that frequent this flea market, making it a delicious stop as well. During the winter months, the outdoor flea market moves indoors in a warehouse of industrial city.

Most people think about the cityscape when they think about Brooklyn but there are also plenty of beautiful ways to get back to nature in the area. One of those is the Botanic Garden, a little haven of serenity that is well worth a visit. Founded in 1910, the 52 acre park has hundreds of different types of trees and plants to enjoy. If you are there in the spring, you will love seeing the cherry blossoms.

Both Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Museum are nearby to the Botanic Garden, and these are also well worth a visit. In fact, the Brooklyn Museum has some amazing pieces, including some from Degas and Monet.

No discussion on things to do in Brooklyn would be complete without discussing Coney Island. There are plenty of things to explore the area, but if you are going to Coney Island, you must ride the Cyclone roller coaster. Stop by on a hot summer day, ride the roller coaster and grab a hot dog and beer. It was absolutely make your trip to the area complete.

If you enjoy your beer and hot dog from Coney Island, make sure that you save room for some of the other delicious Brooklyn food stops. One of those is juniors cheesecake, where you can get one of the best slices of cheesecake in the world. You can also go to Grimaldi’s Pizza for a slice, but be prepared to stand in line. The food is well worth it, but the lines may stretch around the block.

As you can tell, there are many things to do when you visit the area. New York has much to offer, and there are plenty of things to see in and around Manhattan. Don’t overlook Brooklyn, however, because it is one trip that is well worth making.
